For centuries this ancient route has been and still is one of the busiest travel paths. There are different “ways” to arrive to Santiago de Compostela but the most popular is the French Way, which starts at St. Jean-Pied-du-Port.
This is the most popular Way, which starts at St. Jean-Pied-du-Port and will discover you different charming towns like Burgos, Leon or Lugo.
From the beautiful city of Porto, you will face different landscapes, mounts, rivers and an amazing coastline.
The Camino del Norte, starts at Irun following the north Spanish coast passing by Donosti, Bilbao, Santander and Gijon till you reach Galicia at the town of Ribadeo.
This route is called the Original or Primitive Way. This first historic route starts in Oviedo and enters Galicia at the village of A Fonsagrada. An amazing landscape along demanding pathways
If your choice is to walk only along Galicia then your path will start at El Cebreiro or Sarria, following the French Way to Santiago.
